Stac dialup/isdn compression available

Jas.net has STAC compression available to all customers using our "56k" dialup and isdn numbers. Stac is a very efficient means of data compression that can speed up your data transfer by 2 to 4 times. It will work with all windows dialups up to XP and most high quality isdn modems. Microsoft decided to take stac out of XP because they didn't want to pay royalties to the patent holders of stac (aren't you glad you kept that 98/ME computer).

To setup for stac on dialup, go to dialup networking (my computer on 98, start settings on ME) and right click your jas.net dialer. Select properties from the menu. Click configure under the modem listing. Click the connection tab and the advanced button. Take the check off “compress data” (in extreme cases you may have to take the check off use error correction). Click ok and you are set. The next time you dial in, bring up your dialup from the toolbar icon near the time. Click details and you will see stack compression is active. Now browse to a few websights. You should see a noticable improvement in speed.

This along with the Blocker/Accelerator will make a large improvement in browsing speed. With both, you don't install any software and can remove either or both by changing your setting.
