jas.net Setup Instructions Internet setup instructions for windows 98/2000, etc or explorer 4.0 and higher Click Start, settings, control panel, internet. Here you might want to set http://www.jas.net as your home page. Next click the connection tab and click the connect or setup button. Choose the second option (I have an existing internet account) or 3rd option (Setup manually) depending on version and click next. Leave the next screen on the first option (I access the internet using an ISP) and click next (some versions skip this step). Set this screen to I connect using a phone line and click next. Enter the phone number you dial to connect to us. This depends on your location and is on your signup sheet. Uncheck the use country and area code and click next. Enter your username and password (no caps, dots or spaces). Do not change advanced settings. The next screen asks if you want to rename your connection. Just type in jas net to change it. Leave the next screen on yes to set up internet mail. If the next screen says create a new or use an existing, choose create a new account. *Setting up Outlook Express On this screen you may enter your real name or a nickname and click next. Enter your email address in the proper blank which is username@jas.net and click next. On this screen leave the pop3 setting as is and click the incoming mail server blank. Enter mail.jas.net in both the incoming and outgoing blanks and click next. Your username should already be entered (no caps or spaces). Enter your password. Do not click secure password box and click next. Keep the friendly name of mail.jas.net and click next. On internet news click no as well as directory service (some versions skip this step). Finally, if you have a connect immediately check box uncheck it and click finish to complete setup. Close control panel and click Internet Explorer on your desktop to dial in. Internet setup instructions for windows 95 with explorer 3.0 Find the icon on your desktop that looks like a globe with a magnifying glass over it and labeled The Internet. Double click on this icon and you should get the internet setup wizard. If you have ever set up internet on this computer before you will get your explorer instead of the wizard. In this case you can call the wizard by clicking start, programs, accessories, internet tools, get on the internet. The first screen is information so just click the next button. This screen is entitled setup options. Click Manual and then click next. This screen is informational so just click next. This screen is entitled How to connect. On service provider information you may put Beards or jas net as the name of service provider then click next. The phone number to dial depends on your location and appears on your signup sheet. Enter the proper phone number. Do not check bring up terminal window after dialing. Click the next button. Now you must enter username and password. This is on your signup sheet. Use only small letters. No Capitals then click next. On Ip address screen click my internet service provider automatically assigns me one, then click next. On DNS server screen click next. Click finish on the next screen and your internet is set up. Setup instructions for Windows XP Click start, control panel and network and internet connections. Bring up Internet Options. On the first screen set your home page to www.jas.net. Now, Click the connections tab and the setup button. On first screen just click next. At this point you may be asked to setup your modem info. If so put 409 for area code and use the defaults for the rest. On this screen you will have the option connect to the internet. This is the default so just click next. On this screen choose connect manually and click next. On this screen use default of use dialup modem and click next. Enter the ISP Name of jas net and use the phone number that appears on your signup sheet. Now we come to the login/password screen. Use the login that you gave when you signed up. NO CAPS, NO SPACES, NO DOTS, NO @jas.net just your login. Now you must enter the password you gave at signup twice. Now you are ready to click finish. Since the wizzard does not set the proper option for dialup, bring up Internet options again. Click the connections tab and set the option always dial my default connection. Click apply and ok. Now clear out to your main screen. To set up Outlook find Outlook Express and bring it up. If Outlook automatically goes into the wizard go to the instructions above to setup Outlook Express. If not, click tools, accounts and the mail tab. Remove any old accounts and click add and mail then preceed to the instructions above to setup Outlook Express. From your main screen, find Internet Explorer. Bring it up and dial in. Vista Instructions Vista is simular to XP except they changed Outlook Express to Windows Mail. You go into the setup wizard the same as XP but the wizard is a bit different. After clicking the setup button you choose dialup as the connection type and click next. All the blanks are on the same screen. Fill them out as above but since they are on the same screen you don't have to click next. After filling all the blanks click connect.
